20TH
CENTURY COLLECTIBLES The influence of art and design from ceramics and fabrics of the 1950s is plain to see in almost every facet of modern day home interior products. At Palette London, an extensive stock of mid 20th Century ceramics by Midwinter and Poole Pottery, glassware and vintage fabrics is exhibited and sells from £10. Midwinter in 1953 broke the mould of traditional British ceramics with its “Stylecraft” shape. The “Fashion” shape introduced in 1955 was even more extreme, using textile inspired patterns designed by Jessie Tait, Hugh Casson and Terence Conran. Poole Pottery produced innovative ceramics that have become classics in their field. Pastel colours were softly mixed with speckled grey glaze to form the popular “Twintone” patterns that were sold in the 60’s and 70’s. |
